Ekki/Azobe comes from the Ochnaceae family, it is also known by its Latin name of Lophira Alata and it originates from West Africa. Ekki is graded to D70, which makes it a very durable timber with a high resistance to shock loads and decay. The colour of Ekki varies from a dark red to chocolate brown, it has an interlocked grain with a coarse and uneven texture.
The main uses of Ekki include marine construction, sleepers, heavy construction, heavy duty flooring, bridge building, bog mats and decking.
